What managed Mac IT support can include
Every program begins with an assessment and a written proposal. The final scope depends on your devices, users, applications, locations, security requirements, backups, and business priorities.
| Service area | What MacWorks 360 can provide | Business benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Addigy device management | Inventory, monitoring, application and settings deployment, operating-system management, and policy visibility for supported Macs. | More consistent devices and earlier visibility into developing issues. |
| Help desk and user support | Remote troubleshooting for macOS, business applications, accounts, email, printing, and connectivity, with onsite service when hands-on work adds value. | Less employee downtime and one Apple-focused point of contact. |
| Apple Business Manager | Enrollment planning, company-device organization, and connection to an appropriate management workflow. | More repeatable deployment and less manual setup. |
| Security management | Patch coordination, FileVault and account-security review, endpoint-control planning, administrative-access standards, and security recommendations. | Clearer ownership and practical reduction of avoidable risk. |
| Backup and recovery | Backup requirements, Time Machine or network/cloud options, NAS snapshots or replication where appropriate, monitoring expectations, and recovery testing. | Greater confidence that important work can be recovered. |
| Identity and cloud services | Support for Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace on Apple devices, account access, SSO considerations, and onboarding/offboarding workflows. | Fewer account problems and more consistent access. |
| Networking and storage | Wi-Fi, printers, shared storage, NAS systems, and Mac integration with Windows-based resources. | Reliable access to the systems and files the team needs. |
| Planning and reporting | Documentation, device and application visibility, lifecycle recommendations, vendor coordination, and periodic review according to scope. | Better decisions and fewer technology surprises. |
Not every item is included in every agreement. Exact inclusions, exclusions, response expectations, supported devices, third-party licensing, project work, and after-hours coverage are documented before enrollment.
Choose the level of support that fits your Apple environment
These planning tiers illustrate common levels of responsibility. They are not fixed packages or automatic quotes; MacWorks 360 recommends a scope after reviewing the environment.
| Planning tier | Often fits | Typical focus |
|---|---|---|
| Managed Foundations | Very small teams and organizations beginning to standardize Apple devices | Addigy enrollment, baseline configuration, update coordination, documentation, and responsive support. |
| Managed Business | Growing Mac-dependent teams that want proactive support and clearer ownership | Foundations plus expanded user support, security controls, onboarding/offboarding, backup oversight, and periodic environment review. |
| Advanced & Compliance-Aligned | Organizations with multiple locations, higher-risk data, formal client requirements, or complex integrations | Business-level support plus more advanced identity, security evidence, recovery planning, vendor coordination, and documented controls appropriate to the agreed requirements. |
Device count alone does not determine the right tier. A single business-critical Mac can justify proactive care, while a larger but simple fleet may need a different mix of services.
Managed Services or Flex Support?
| Managed Mac IT Support | Flex / Pay-As-Needed Support | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Businesses that want ongoing responsibility and a partner familiar with the environment | Organizations that need expert help for an isolated issue, upgrade, or project |
| Approach | Proactive and recurring | Reactive or project-based |
| Addigy monitoring | Can be included in the agreement | Not normally included |
| Maintenance | Scheduled and standardized according to scope | Requested as needed |
| User support | Ongoing according to the service agreement | Scheduled when requested |
| Planning | Periodic recommendations and lifecycle guidance | Available as a separate consulting engagement |
| Pricing | Recurring fee based on responsibility and scope | Hourly or project pricing |
If recurring issues, security responsibilities, or onboarding tasks are consuming staff time, managed service usually provides more continuity. If needs are infrequent and the environment is simple, Flex Support may be the more sensible starting point.
Five-step onboarding for managed Mac support
- Discovery and inventory. Review Macs, mobile Apple devices where applicable, users, locations, applications, licenses, accounts, networks, storage, and current support arrangements.
- Risk and priority assessment. Identify urgent reliability, security, backup, access, and workflow gaps before making broad changes.
- Management design. Define Addigy policies, Apple Business Manager requirements, application deployment, update approach, documentation, and support responsibilities.
- Careful deployment. Enroll supported devices, apply approved settings, validate backups and access, and communicate changes to users with minimal disruption.
- Go-live and improvement. Begin ongoing support, resolve early issues, review device and security health, and adjust the program as the business changes.
Security and compliance support for Mac environments
A Mac is not a complete business security program by itself. Effective protection depends on maintained devices, encrypted storage, secure accounts, appropriate endpoint controls, reliable backups, and clear responsibility for responding when something goes wrong.
Depending on the agreement, MacWorks 360 can help establish or improve:
- FileVault encryption and recovery-key handling
- macOS and application update policies
- Endpoint security, firewall, safe-DNS, and phishing-protection planning
- Least-privilege administrative access
- Multi-factor authentication and identity controls
- Remote lock or wipe capabilities for managed devices
- Backup architecture, monitoring, and recovery tests
- Documentation and evidence needed for customer or insurance questionnaires
MacWorks 360 can help align technology practices with business or customer requirements, but it does not represent that installing a tool automatically makes an organization compliant. Formal compliance scope and responsibilities should be documented with the appropriate legal, insurance, and security advisers.
What changes after enrollment?
- Fewer recurring support problems and preventable interruptions
- More consistent Mac configurations across the organization
- Better visibility into supported devices, applications, and maintenance needs
- Clearer ownership of updates, backups, onboarding, and routine security work
- A documented environment and a partner who knows its history
- More predictable planning as devices age, employees change, or the business grows
These are operating goals, not guarantees. Results depend on the agreed scope, user participation, third-party systems, and the condition of the environment at enrollment.
What MacWorks 360 needs to prepare a proposal
You do not need a perfect inventory before the first conversation. A rough device count, number of users, business locations, key applications, Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace details, current support arrangement, security or insurance requirements, and the problems costing the most time provide a useful starting point.
The proposal should document:
- Supported users, devices, locations, and systems
- Included services and separately priced project work
- Support hours, request process, and response expectations
- Addigy and other required third-party licensing
- Onsite and after-hours terms
- Client and provider responsibilities
- Onboarding work, recurring fees, and any one-time costs
- Transition and documentation expectations if the relationship ends

Frequently asked questions
Is managed Mac support suitable for a small team?
Yes. MacWorks 360 can support a client with one business-critical device or a larger fleet. The decision should be based on business impact, risk, and desired responsibility rather than an arbitrary device minimum.
Does MacWorks 360 use Addigy?
Yes. Addigy is the RMM and Apple-device-management platform MacWorks 360 uses for supported managed Mac environments. MacWorks 360 does not use Jamf, Mosyle, or Intune as its RMM platform.
Are all services included in every plan?
No. Each proposal identifies the included users, devices, systems, services, licensing, and response expectations. Project work and specialized third-party services may be priced separately.
Can MacWorks 360 take over Macs that are not currently managed?
Yes. The onboarding assessment identifies ownership, accounts, current tools, configuration differences, security gaps, and any work required before devices enter the agreed management approach.
Can you support remote and hybrid employees?
Yes. Addigy-based management and remote assistance can support eligible devices in home and office locations. Apple Business Manager and automated enrollment can also make future deployments more consistent when the purchasing and ownership requirements are met.
Do you support iPhones and iPads?
iPhone and iPad management can be discussed as part of the Apple environment. The exact mobile-device scope and policies must be included in the agreement.
Can you work with Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace?
Yes. MacWorks 360 supports the Apple side of Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, including applications, accounts, file access, collaboration, and common integration issues.
How is pricing structured?
Managed service is normally priced as a recurring fee based on the number of supported users and devices, the systems involved, required licensing, service hours, and the responsibility MacWorks 360 assumes. A written proposal follows the assessment.
Can you work alongside an existing IT provider?
Yes, when responsibilities are clearly divided. MacWorks 360 can focus on Apple devices and workflows while an internal team or another provider manages other parts of the environment.
How does switching providers work?
The transition begins with discovery and documentation. Access, ownership, tools, policies, and outstanding risks are reviewed before changes are made. The proposal identifies onboarding responsibilities and the information needed from the current provider.
