A Summit graphic designer was working on a six-year-old Intel-based Mac that was ready to be replaced. She needed the new computer configured for professional work without losing access to important files or leaving the system unprotected.
We migrated her to a 16-inch MacBook Pro with M5 Max, configured the applications and settings needed for her workflow, and installed our security and support tools. During the setup we identified several issues that required correction before the new system could become the dependable center of her work.
We also established two complementary forms of protection: a local backup for practical recovery and iCloud-based protection for appropriate synchronized data. The computer has performed reliably since the migration, giving the designer a faster and more organized working environment.
A new Mac should be configured around the user’s actual work. Before moving data, we review applications, storage, account access, peripherals and backup status. We then test the new environment so problems can be addressed before the older computer is retired.
Yes. We first assess the older computer, available backups and application compatibility, then choose an appropriate migration method.
No. They protect different kinds of data and recovery scenarios. We explain the differences and configure a practical combination for the client.
